This month we are thrilled to announce that two new members have joined the EEF management team. Gizalem Derege joins us officially as our new Programme Director Ethiopia and Lidia Gebremedhin has been appointed Programme Manager Ethiopia.
Both Gizalem and Lidia have been members of our EEF family for a long time, having previously been scholars of our high school programme. They both lived at the EEF hostel and know the systems well. They also know what it takes to look after 50 young people 😊
Gizalem graduated from high school in 2010. He went on to study Civil Engineering at Adama Science and Technology University. Graduating with excellent results in 2015, Gizalem then did a Masters’ degree in Water Supply and Environmental Engineering at Addis Ababa University.
Lidia lived at the EEF hostel from 2010 to 2014 before receiving a full Mastercard funded scholarship to study Agricultural Science at Earth University in Costa Rica. She graduated in 2019 with a fantastic GPA.
Gizalem and Lidia are perfect examples of why we started EEF. They came from very disadvantaged backgrounds and without our help would have never managed to finish their education. Like so many of our students, they made the most of the opportunities given to them. We are incredibly proud to have them on our team and see this as testament that our model is both transformational as well as sustainable
Welcome Gize and Lidia!
